Converting a candlestick into a table lamp is one of the more common transformations in brass lighting — a stable, weighted base and a slender stem already do the structural work, needing only a wired socket in place of a candle cup and a shade on top to become a functioning lamp.

This pair rises from a finely worked square brass foot through a slender stem to a cast rocaille or acanthus-leaf mount below the socket, in a brass finish with gilt-toned detailing throughout, each fitted with a new white pleated fabric shade. Pairing a genuinely older brass base with a brand-new shade is a common and practical choice — it lets a converted lamp go straight into use with a crisp, unmarked shade, rather than asking a buyer to source one separately or live with a shade that has aged unevenly against a much newer base.
