Pair of Vintage Louis XV Style Chased Gilt Bronze Wall Sconces, Two-Arm Rocaille Design with Ruffled Bobeches and Cartouche
At the centre of each backplate, a small smooth oval cartouche is framed by a rosette and a swirl of rocaille scrolls, which flare above into a single acanthus flame and curl below into a leafy tip. From a ribbed collar, two arms sweep out in fluted S-curves, cast with leaves along their backs, and rise into wide, ruffled bobeches with petal-like edges. They hold ivory candle sleeves with sculpted drips. The gilding has mellowed into a soft, antique gold with darker tones in the recesses. They suit a bedroom, a hallway or either side of a mirror.
Condition: Good Vintage Condition, with a warm, aged patina to the gilding consistent with age, as pictured.
