Set of Three Painted Metal Wall Sconces, Faceted Glass Drops, Scrolled Arm

Pairing painted metal with faceted glass drops gave twentieth-century sconce makers a way to add sparkle to an otherwise simple wall fitting, the glass catching light quite differently from the metal around it. A scrolled arm rising to a single point kept the silhouette light despite the added glass, letting the drop do the visual work at the top of each piece.

This set of three is built around a circular painted metal backplate in a soft teal tone, trimmed with a gilt rope-twist border, from which a scrolled arm rises to a single point fitted with a faceted glass drop and a gilt candle-style socket. Note how each backplate is finished with the same rope-twist edge, a small consistent detail that ties the set together visually even though the scroll arms are shown at slightly different angles in the photo. The three sconces are sold as a matched set.

The set reaches us in very good vintage condition, with some of the glass drop points showing a small chip to the back, difficult to see once mounted. As lighting pieces, all three sconces will be fully rewired through our workshop, delivered working and ready to use, fitted with a B22 socket as supplied. Hung together or split across a room, their painted finish and glass detail suit a softer, more decorative interior.
