Olives, almonds and a little something sweet: three bowls, one handle, and the table is ready. Carried in from the kitchen, this small server brings sparkle and a flash of gold to an aperitif. It is a piece made for easy entertaining.
Three round glass bowls, each patterned with a lattice of small diamonds around a star at the centre of the base, are set in gilt metal rims edged with a fine band of decoration. At the centre, a tall looped gilt metal handle with scrolled brackets joins the three bowls together. The star at the base of each bowl reflects light up through the glass, so even an empty bowl sparkles on the table.
The server is in very good vintage condition. Its three bowls stay together in their gilt frame, as they were made. On a cocktail table it holds olives, nuts and sweets. On a dressing table it keeps rings, earrings and hair pins in order.
