Bills at the back, letters to answer at the front: a rack like this brings order to a desk without hiding anything away. Its dark, warm finish suits a study lined with books. It is a quiet, useful piece that makes a desk look settled.
The letter rack is made of wood in a dark mahogany-tone finish, set on a two-step moulded base. A tall compartment runs the full width at the back. In front of it, a lower section is split into three slots by two short dividers with rounded tops, and shaped side panels curve down from back to front. Tiered racks like this put the tallest slot at the back and the lowest at the front, so every envelope stays visible at a glance.
The rack is in good vintage condition, with a few small marks to the lacquer. Its small marks have been left as they are, not refinished. On a writing desk, a hall table or a kitchen counter, it holds letters, notebooks, envelopes and cards in order.
