Vintage 1980s Louis XVI Style Brass-Tone Candlestick Table Lamp with Black and Gold Oval Shade

Compact enough for a narrow bedside table or the corner of a desk, this little lamp brings a touch of French classical style without taking up much room.

The lamp stands on a round stepped base that rises into a square, tapering shaft with recessed panels. Above a square block, a fluted cup holds the candle sleeve and bulb fitting. It comes with its original oval shade in black, trimmed with a gold-tone band at top and bottom. An oval shade is narrower front to back than a round one. That lets the lamp sit closer to a wall, which made oval shades a favourite on consoles and narrow desks.

The lamp is in very good vintage condition, with a few small dents in the shade. It has been well looked after since the 1980s and is ready for a new home. Set it on a bedside table, a hall console or a desk.
