Vintage Art Deco Desk Lamp, Arched Patinated Metal Arm on Stepped Base with Clear Patterned Glass Globe

A dark metal arm rises from its base and bends forward, holding a clear glass globe out over the desk. Lit, the globe throws a warm sparkle across the surface below.

The lamp is made of patinated metal, with a tapering arm that curves forward at the top and a stepped rectangular base. A push switch sits at the front of the base. The globe is clear glass, moulded with spiralling rows of small raised dots that scatter the light. Desk lamps of the 1930s were often made this way, with an arched arm so the light falls on the work in front of you, not in your eyes.

The lamp is in very good vintage condition. The glass globe is a later replacement, but an older one. Before it leaves us, it will be fully rewired in our workshop. Look after it, and it will keep doing its job for years. It suits a desk, a bureau or a bedside table.

Key points: an Art Deco desk lamp in patinated metal, with an arched arm, a stepped base and a clear patterned glass globe.
