Vintage Art Deco Mirrored Glass Jewelry Box, Bevelled Edges and Engraved Leaf Spray Lid, 1930s
Every side of this little box is mirror, so it picks up the colours of the room around it. On the lid, two sprays of leaves meet at a small flower, engraved into the glass.
The box is made from panels of mirrored glass. The lid and base have notched, bevelled edges, and the sides are plain mirror. The lid is engraved with two leaf sprays meeting at a four-petal flower in the centre. A bevel is an edge ground at an angle. It works like a prism, catching the light and splitting it into small flashes along every side.
The box is in good vintage condition, with marks of age, including glue stains along the joins. It has been kept for many years, and now it's ready for new keepsakes. It suits a dressing table for rings and earrings, or a bedside table for small treasures.
Box facts: a small mirrored glass box with bevelled, notched edges and an engraved leaf spray lid.
