A high, domed lid rises in eight smooth facets to a stepped finial, like the roof of a small pavilion. Where the silver tone has worn, a warm pink glow shows through.

The box is eight-sided and made of silver-tone metal, with a matching domed lid and a short stepped foot. The lid curves up in eight panels to a geometric finial, and a stepped rim edges the base. Where the surface has worn, the metal shows a warm pink tone. Art Deco designers of the 1920s and 1930s liked to turn round shapes into faceted ones. Each flat panel catches the light on its own, so the piece looks sharper and more modern.

The box is in good vintage condition, with tarnish and dark patches in places, and a pink tone showing where the surface has worn. It has stood on other tables for many years, and it's ready for a new one. Use it on a dining table for sugar or sweets, or on a dressing table for jewelry.
