Vintage Black and Brass Wall Sconce, 1950s–60s Style Curved Stem with Reed Leaf and Flower Bobèche, Candle Bulb, 35 cm
In the 1950s and 1960s, European designers turned the wall light into a kind of drawing in metal. Inspired by reeds, grasses and flowers, they used thin brass stems and black accents to sketch simple, graceful shapes on the wall. These sconces were light and playful, and they brought a fresh, modern feeling to post-war homes.
This wall sconce is in that 1950s–60s style. A black rectangular wall plate with a brass panel at its centre holds a long brass stem that sweeps diagonally across it, ending in a cleanly cut tip below. At the top, the stem opens into a brass bobèche shaped like a flower, which holds a candle-style bulb. Crossing behind the stem, a slim black rod rises to a long black blade, like a single reed or blade of grass. The two lines cross like a quick pen sketch, and the black and brass contrast keeps the look crisp.
The sconce is in good vintage condition. Like every lamp we sell, it is checked in our workshop before it is sent, so it arrives ready to use. It suits a bedroom, a hallway or a reading corner, and it looks especially striking on a plain, pale wall.
In short, this is a vintage black and brass wall sconce in the 1950s–60s style, with a curved stem, a reed leaf, a flower bobèche and a candle bulb. It is about 35 cm tall and exactly as pictured.
