Vintage Bouillotte-Style Silver-Tone Two-Light Table Lamp with Paw Feet and Oxblood Tôle Shade

Silver-toned metal under a deep oxblood shade gives this lamp a cooler, quieter look than the usual brass bouillotte. It's a good choice for a room with grey, blue or white walls.

The lamp stands on a shaped octagonal tray with a gadrooned edge, raised on four small lion's paw feet. From the centre, a short stem decorated with a mask and leaves holds two curved arms with fluted candle cups and drip pans. A slim rod rises through an oval sheet-metal shade, painted dark red and trimmed with a silver-tone rim. Lion's paw feet are one of the oldest furniture motifs still in use. Craftsmen in ancient Egypt and Rome carved them on thrones and stools as a sign of strength and power.

The lamp is in good vintage condition. There's light wear to the silver-tone finish, and the shade has some scuffs and marks. The shade is fixed and doesn't adjust in height. It has been well kept and is ready for a new desk or side table. Set it on a writing desk, a library table or a sideboard.
