Vintage Bronze Bouillotte Table Lamps Pair, Tan Shades with Blue Braid, Two Arms Each, 37 cm
Two small matching lamps, each with a pair of candle lights under a gold oval shade, are made for flanking a bed, a sofa or a long sideboard.
Each lamp stands on a round, domed foot edged with beading and decorated with acanthus. It's raised on three small scrolled feet. A leaf-wrapped stem rises to a straight crossbar with a turned drop at each end, and each end holds a petal-shaped cup and a white candle sleeve. A slim rod carries an oval gold-tone shade trimmed top and bottom with a wavy green braid, topped by a small finial. The original bouillotte was a single lamp set in the middle of a card table. Making it smaller and in matching pairs for bedrooms and side tables was largely a 20th-century idea, and it's the reason sets like this exist.
The pair is in good vintage condition. The bronze-tone metal has an even patina. The shades are soiled, with marks, scratches and a dark water stain on one. The old wiring reaches us as found, and both lamps will be fully rewired in our workshop, ready for many more nights of reading. Set them on two nightstands or at either end of a console.
Bedside bouillotte pair: two small vintage bouillotte-style two-light table lamps with acanthus stems, three-footed domed bases and braid-trimmed gold oval shades, rewired in our workshop and ready to use.
