Vintage Faceted Glass Chamberstick in Patinated Metal Frame with Laurel Wreath Handle and Tripod Feet
A thick disc of glass, cut into a starburst of facets, holds a single candle at its centre. When the candle is lit, the light breaks into sparks of colour through every facet.
The candle holder has a round, domed block of clear glass, cut with radiating facets around a central candle socket. It's set in a metal frame with a braided border and stands on three small feet. A handle shaped like a laurel wreath curves out from one side. A candle holder with a handle like this is called a chamberstick. Before electric light, people carried one from room to room, and up the stairs to bed, so the light went with them.
The candle holder is in good vintage condition, with a green patina in the recesses of the metal. It has lit many evenings in other homes, and it's ready for more. It suits a mantelpiece, a bedside table or a dining table.
Candle holder summary: a faceted glass chamberstick in a patinated metal frame with a braided border, a laurel wreath handle and three feet.
