Vintage Gilt Metal Wall Sconce, Attributed 1970s–80s, Pressed Glass Tulip Shade with Red Faceted Drop, 32 cm
Wall sconces have lit European homes since the age of candles, and when electricity arrived they simply changed their fuel. Designers of the later twentieth century kept the old idea of a light on a graceful arm, but gave it a lighter, more playful touch, with textured glass and small bright accents.
This wall sconce is attributed to the 1970s–80s. A round gilt metal wall plate holds a curved arm that ends in a tall glass tulip shade. Beside it, a second slender arm carries a red faceted drop that adds a small spark of colour. The shade is made of pressed glass: molten glass is pressed into a mould to form a raised pattern, and here that pattern of small facets scatters the light softly as it passes through.
The sconce reaches us in good condition, with traces of oxidation on the gilt metal. Like every lamp we sell, it passes through our workshop before it is sent, so it arrives ready to use. It suits a hallway, a bedroom or a reading corner.
In short, this is a vintage gilt metal wall sconce with a pressed glass tulip shade and a red faceted drop, attributed to the 1970s–80s. It is 32 cm long and exactly as pictured.
