A sprig of pine lies across this small oval dish, its long needles sweeping down both sides from a plump cone at the top. It brings a quiet piece of the forest indoors.
The dish is oval, in gilt metal. Long pine needles curve down both sides in relief, framing a smooth centre, and a detailed pine cone sits at the top. The signature "LEROYER" is cast along one side. The scales of a pine cone grow in two sets of spirals, one turning left and one turning right. The number of spirals almost always matches a pair of neighbouring numbers in the Fibonacci sequence (1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13…), the same pattern found in sunflowers and pineapples.
The dish is in good vintage condition, with light signs of use and wear to the gilt. It has been kept with care, and it's ready to be kept the same way. It suits a dressing table for rings, a desk for paper clips, or a hall table for keys.
