Vintage Mid-Century Clear Glass Table Lamp, Sculptural Twin-Loop Base, Pleated Shade with Fringe

Two loops of clear glass curl up from a solid block, like flames or swans' necks turning toward each other. The light passes straight through the glass and picks out every curve.

The lamp base is heavy clear glass, shaped into two curling loops that rise from a thick, rounded foot. A small gold label sits on the front. The lamp comes with a pleated cream shade trimmed with braid and finished with a deep orange fringe. Thick glass like this has to be cooled very slowly after it's shaped. This process is called annealing, and without it the glass would crack as it cooled.

The lamp is in very good vintage condition. Before it leaves us, it will be fully rewired in our workshop. It has been looked after well, and we hope that continues. It suits a bedside table, a dressing table or a small side table in a warm-toned room.
