Vintage Pair of 1970s Space Age Wall Lights with White Glass Globes in Blue Acrylic Cradles

A white ball of glass resting in a bright blue cradle: this pair has the bold, playful colours of 1970s pop design.

Each light has a round chrome-toned base topped with a shallow chrome-toned cup. A white glass globe sits in the cup, framed by a U-shaped piece of clear blue acrylic that curves up on both sides like a cradle. When lit, the globe glows white while the blue edges catch the light. Shapes like this were made by heat-bending: a flat acrylic sheet is warmed along a straight line until it softens, then folded and left to cool and set.

The lights are in good vintage condition, with worn chrome on the bases, and the old wiring reaches us as found. They have been kept together as a pair and are ready for a new home. Hang them in a bedroom, a hallway or a playroom.

Blue cradle pair: two 1970s wall lights with white glass globes in blue acrylic cradles, rewired and sold as a pair.
