Vintage Pair of Empire Style Brass-Tone Candlesticks, Fluted Columns and Foliate Domed Bases

Two tall columns with crisp fluting rise from rich leafy bases, each topped by an urn-shaped candle cup. Set on a mantelpiece or a dining table, the pair stands as straight as two pillars.

Each candlestick is made of brass-tone metal. A fluted column stands on a round domed base cast with dense foliage and edged with a fine knurled band. At the top, an urn-shaped nozzle with knurled bands holds a flat, round drip pan. On candlesticks of this kind, the drip pan, called a bobèche, usually lifts out. It catches the melting wax and can be removed for cleaning, which keeps the candlestick itself free of wax.

The candlesticks are in good vintage condition, with some signs of wear. They have lit many evenings in other homes, and they're ready for many more in yours. They suit a mantelpiece, a dining table, a console or a sideboard.

Pair at a glance: two Empire style brass-tone candlesticks with fluted columns, foliate domed bases and urn nozzles.
