Vintage Pair of Louis XVI Style Brass-Tone Two-Arm Wall Sconces with Leaf-Cast Urn and Heart Loop

A small heart-shaped loop at the top, a slim urn in the middle and two curling arms below: this pair keeps the Louis XVI look light and graceful.

Each sconce has a tapering urn decorated with long upright leaves, topped with a pierced, heart-shaped loop and finished below with a short leafy drop. Two arms, edged with curling leaves, scroll out from a collar at the base of the urn. Each ends in a fluted, trumpet-shaped cup with a beaded drip pan and a cream candle sleeve. Loops like the one at the top go back to early wall lights, which really did hang from a nail by a ring, like a picture. On later sconces the loop stayed on as decoration.

The sconces are in very good vintage condition, and the old wiring reaches us as found. They have been kept together as a pair and are ready for a new wall. Hang them either side of a bed, a fireplace or a hallway mirror.
