Vintage Pair of Small Louis XV Style Gilt Metal Two-Arm Wall Sconces with Scrolled Arms

Not every wall has room for a tall sconce. This compact pair is short enough to fit between a headboard and a shelf, or above a narrow console.

Each sconce has a short back plate cast with curling leaves and topped with a small flame-like finial. Two bold scrolled arms swing out to the sides, and each ends in a drip pan and a candle sleeve. The arms are shaped like the letter C, a curve that French designers of the Louis XV period used everywhere, on chair backs, mirror frames and metalwork. They preferred it to the straight lines of the century before.

The sconces are in very good vintage condition, and the old wiring reaches us as found. They have been kept together as a pair and are ready for their next home. Hang them on either side of a bed, a bathroom mirror or a small fireplace.
