Vintage Shaped White Glazed Ceramic Trinket Dish with Monogram "B", Yellow and Blue Palmette Border and Gilt Rim
A single letter "B", drawn in blue and yellow with little flower buds, sits at the centre of a white dish with a curving, scalloped outline. A bright band of palmettes and a gold edge frame it.
The dish is white glazed ceramic with a shaped, curving outline and gently fluted sides. A border of small yellow and blue palmettes runs around the rim, finished with a gilt edge, and a monogram "B" decorates the centre. The French call an outline like this "chantourné": cut in a series of curves, not a plain oval. The shape comes from 18th-century rococo silver and furniture, and it's still used for fine tableware today.
The dish is in very good vintage condition. It has been well kept, and it's ready for new use. It suits a dressing table for rings, a bedside table, or a desk for small things, and it makes a thoughtful gift for someone whose name begins with B.
