Vintage Silver-Tone Champagne Bucket with Engraved Scroll Cartouche and Ring Handles, Early 20th Century
A blank oval framed by engraved scrolling leaves sits on the front of this bucket, waiting for a set of initials that was never added. Its darkened, well-worn surface shows decades of use.
The bucket is silver-tone metal, with a tapering body and a wide, flared rim with a rolled edge. On each side, a ring handle hangs from a round mount. The front is engraved with a cartouche of scrolling acanthus leaves around an empty oval, with fine engraved bands near the top and the base. Cartouches like this were often left blank when the bucket was made. A family, a hotel or a restaurant could then have its own initials or name engraved in the centre.
The bucket is in fair vintage condition, with heavy tarnish and wear to the silver-tone finish. It has served at many celebrations, and it's ready to be polished up for more, or kept with its patina. Use it for champagne or wine, or as a planter or cachepot with a plant inside.
In a sentence: a silver-tone champagne bucket with an engraved scroll cartouche, ring handles and a flared rim.
