Vintage Small Blue and White Glazed Ceramic Lidded Pot, Chinoiserie Style Landscape Decoration
A blue landscape wraps around this small lidded pot, painted in the spirit of old Chinese scenes. It's small enough to sit on a dressing table, yet there's plenty to look at.
The pot is white glazed ceramic with a matching lid, decorated in blue with an Asian-inspired landscape. European makers have copied the look of Chinese and Japanese art since the 17th century. Their versions, often mixing real and imagined scenes, are called chinoiserie, from the French word for "Chinese".
The pot is in very good vintage condition, with its matching lid. It has been well looked after by others before us, and we hope that goes on. Use it on a dressing table for rings and earrings, on a desk for paper clips, or in a cabinet with other blue and white pieces.
In brief: a small blue and white glazed ceramic pot with a matching lid and a chinoiserie style landscape.
