Vintage Small Bouillotte Two-Light Lamp with Bronze-Tone Dished Base and Green Tôle Shade

Small enough for a bedside table, this little bouillotte lamp has every feature of its larger cousins, right down to the handle for carrying it from room to room.

The lamp stands on an oval dished base with a shaped, moulded edge and a small flat handle at one end. Two turned candle cups hold candle sleeves on either side of a square rod. The rod rises through a dark green oval shade, painted with a gold band and a running border of leaves. A bracket with a thumbscrew lets the shade slide up or down, and a ring at the top lets you lift the lamp. Gold borders on painted tôle shades were often applied with a stencil, a cut-out pattern brushed over with paint, so the design repeats evenly all the way round.

The lamp is in good vintage condition, with wear to the shade's paint and gilding. It has been well used and is ready for a new bedside or desk. Set it on a nightstand, a writing desk or a small side table.

Small bouillotte summary: a small two-light bouillotte lamp with a bronze-tone dished base and an adjustable green and gold tôle shade, rewired and ready to use.
