A small glass bowl cut all over with tiny pyramids sits on a gilt foot and is ringed in gold at the rim. The cut glass and gilt metal catch the light together.

The bowl is clear glass, cut all over in a diamond point pattern of small raised pyramids, with a smooth gilt metal band around the rim. It rests on a gilt metal stem with a beaded ring, on a round foot cast with leaves. Mounting glass in metal is a very old practice. A metal rim protects the fragile edge of the glass from chips, and a metal foot gives the bowl weight and steadiness. At the same time, the gilt adds warmth to the cool sparkle of the glass.
