Vintage Space Age Chrome-Tone Metal Table Lamp Base, Stacked Sphere and Disc Shape, 1970s

Rounded shapes are stacked one on another, from a wide foot up through a large sphere to a slim trumpet neck. The shiny surface reflects the whole room around it.

The lamp base is made of chrome-tone metal. It has a round stepped foot, a narrow waist and a flat disc, then a large rounded body under a second disc. The top is a tall flared neck. Chrome plating is a very thin layer of chromium bonded onto metal by electricity. It gives a hard, mirror-like finish that doesn't tarnish, which is why designers of the 1970s loved it for lamps and furniture.

The lamp base is in good vintage condition, with one small scratch. Before dispatch, it will be fully rewired in our workshop. It's ready for another chapter in a good home. It works on a bedside table, a sideboard or a desk, with a white or coloured shade.
