Antique Brass Oil LampElectrified — Victorian Style Table Lamp, 19th Century
Delivered free · US duties paid · Insured
Before electricity reached most homes, the oil lamp was the standard evening light, and its form was dictated entirely by function: a reservoir to hold the fuel, a perforated gallery to regulate airflow to the flame, and a knob to raise or lower the wick. Brass was the material of choice, prized for standing up to daily handling and cleaning, and the same lamps that once burned oil were, decades later, quietly wired for electricity rather than discarded.

This lamp, nineteenth century, still carries its full oil-lamp mechanism, now converted to electric use. The bowl-shaped reservoir sits above a slender pedestal foot, with the original pierced brass gallery and wick-adjustment knob preserved intact above it — note how the gallery's cut-out pattern was pierced individually rather than stamped as a single repeating die-cut, the finer, slower method typical of genuine period fittings rather than later reproductions. A conical red fabric shade with gold trim sits at the top, in keeping with the lamp's Victorian character.
Whoever kept this lamp burning, and later wired it for electricity, kept it well. The brass shows gentle, honest wear consistent with its age, adding rather than detracting from its character. It is ready for a bedside table, a desk, or a living room corner.
It arrives professionally packed and fully insured, checked and ready to use — we handle the paperwork and worldwide shipping, with your choice of US, UK, or EU plug fitted at no extra charge. Returns are accepted within 30 days.
