The lamp base has a turned, tiered column combining bronze and brass tones, rising from a banded circular foot to a wide, ribbed drip pan just below the socket. The turning includes several knopped and ringed sections, giving the piece a strong architectural rhythm from top to bottom. The metal shows a warm, aged patina throughout.
