Color, in this piece, doesn't sit on the surface, it lives inside it. The glass shifts from a warm, dusty pink at the shoulder to a soft, pale green pooling at the base, the transition so gradual it seems to happen within the glass itself rather than across it. This is the particular magic of certain French decorative glass techniques from the twentieth century, achieved not through paint or enamel but through the careful layering and firing of colored glass powders, a slower and more demanding process than ordinary glassblowing, but one capable of a depth and softness that clear glass simply can't match.
The form itself is understated, a slim, waisted body that widens gently at the shoulder before tapering to a narrow neck, close in spirit to the clean geometric restraint of Art Deco design. Brass fittings frame the piece top and bottom, a collar ring at the neck and a solid foot below, both carrying the muted patina of age rather than the bright shine of anything new. The lamp base carries an engraved signature. A small luminaire label on the underside points to a later rewiring or fitting.
Sold as a lamp base only, without a shade, so you're free to pair it with whatever suits your space. The brass shows light surface wear and could use a gentle clean; please look closely at the photos for the full picture of its current condition.
