Set of 7: two lidded pots, two open bowls, three spoons
Condition: good antique condition; light wear consistent with age and careful use
The neoclassical revival that shaped French decorative arts around the turn of the twentieth century borrowed freely from the Louis XVI period a century earlier — ribbon-and-swag motifs, pierced galleries, beaded edging — applying that vocabulary to smaller table objects like condiment sets. Cobalt blue glass was a favorite pairing with silver mounts specifically because the deep color read as a jewel against the pale metal, turning a set of salt cellars and spice pots into something closer to tabletop ornament than plain service ware.
This set, French, circa 1900, gathers two lidded pots, two open bowls, and three matching spoons, all in cobalt glass set within pierced silver mounts. Note how the ribbon-and-swag ornament is cast in three-dimensional relief rather than engraved flat into the surface — the kind of sculptural, hand-finished silverwork that separates a genuinely mounted antique piece from a simpler stamped reproduction. Small drop ornaments hang along the pierced galleries, catching light and movement as the pieces are handled.
Whoever set this table before you kept the pieces together and kept them well. The silver and glass both show light, honest wear consistent with careful handling over more than a century. The full set of seven pieces is ready for a dining table, a bar cart, or a vitrine display.
It arrives professionally packed and fully insured, with glass and silver protected separately for transit — we handle the paperwork and worldwide shipping. Returns are accepted within 30 days.
