The pineapple has carried the symbolism of welcome and hospitality across centuries of decorative art, carved into gateposts and stitched into linens long before it found its way onto a lamp — and few objects wear that history as literally as this one, its textured, faceted body rising to a spray of curling brass leaves just below the socket, as if caught mid-ripening in bronze. Designers working in the style associated with Maison Jansen embraced exactly this kind of confident, sculptural novelty during the mid-twentieth century, a period when interiors leaned into bold, tactile forms borrowed from nature and reimagined in gleaming metal. It evokes the atmosphere of a sunroom or a bar cart set for an evening of entertaining, the kind of lamp meant to be noticed the moment a guest walked in. One can imagine it standing for decades on a console table, its scaled surface catching candlelight and lamplight alike, gathering the same warm patina it carries today. Brought into a home now, it still performs that same quiet trick of turning a light fixture into a small conversation piece.

The lamp base is cast in bronze in the form of a pineapple, its body worked with a dense, overlapping scale texture and topped with a spray of curling brass leaves beneath the socket. It rises from a slender neck to a stepped circular foot. The bronze has a warm, aged patina throughout.

This is offered as a single lamp base, sold without shade.
