Josef Hoffmann and the Wiener Werkstätte workshop he founded in 1903 returned constantly to the same pairing: brass, worked into clean geometric forms, set against opaline glass diffusing light without a hard edge. Hoffmann favored this combination across pendants, sconces, and table lamps for decades, and re-editions of his original designs are still produced in Vienna today using the identical materials — brass base, opaline shade — because the pairing itself hasn't dated.
This lamp works in that tradition rather than claiming to be an original Hoffmann piece. A hexagonal brass foot tapers upward into a slender stem, topped with a ribbed, cylindrical opaline glass shade banded in thin gold lines — the horizontal ribbing catching and softening the light rather than letting it pass through in one even wash. The geometric foot and clean vertical stem echo the puristic, unornamented lines Hoffmann's early Wiener Werkstätte designs were known for.

The brass has kept a good, even polish, and the glass shade shows no chips along its ribbed surface. At 42 cm tall on a compact 15 cm base, it suits a nightstand, console, or desk without demanding much surface space.
