Mid Century Wall Sconces PairDouble Brass Sconces with White Glass Cone Shades — French, 1960s
Delivered free · US duties paid · Insured
By the 1960s, the French wall light had learned to gesture. The stiff symmetrical sconce of earlier decades loosened into sprays of thin brass rod — arms crossing and flaring like grasses — with the shades tilted outward at the angles of the atomic age. Sold in mirrored pairs, they were designed to bracket a bed or a doorway with the two sprays leaning toward each other, a small choreography on the wall.

Condition: very good condition; all four glasses intact, brass bright with light age-consistent wear
This pair is French, from the 1960s, and properly mirrored — a left and a right: each sconce a rectangular brass backplate from which two slender rods curve up and outward, crossing a pair of downswept tails, each rod carrying a tilted cone shade of white glass collared top and bottom in clear diamond-pressed bands. Hold a shade to the light and look at the pressed bands — the diamond texture is in the glass itself, molded, and its job appears only when lit: the white cone glows evenly while the clear bands scatter sparkle up the wall. Both sconces have been fully rewired through our workshop before dispatch and arrive prepared for wall installation, in working order.
All four glasses are intact and matching, the brass bright with light age-consistent wear, as the photographs show. Whoever hung this mirrored pair before you kept both halves of the choreography together. They are ready to flank a bed, a mirror, or a doorway.
The pair is brass and glass, mirrored left and right, rewired before dispatch. It arrives professionally packed and fully insured — worldwide shipping and US import duties are included. For other destinations, local import taxes and duties may apply and are payable by the recipient. Returns are accepted within 30 days.
