The corridor was the mid-century sconce's natural habitat. French makers of the 1950s designed wall lights to be bought not in pairs but in runs — three or four identical fixtures marching down a hallway or up a stairwell, each one a slim brass arm leaning off the wall to hold its glass at an angle, like torches along a passage. A surviving run of three is the design still doing what it was made for.
This is a set of three, French, from the 1950s–60s: each sconce an angled brass bracket carrying a slender curved arm, rising to a ribbed brass calyx and a tapering cone of heavily textured clear glass, worked over its surface in an irregular icy relief, open at the tip. Hold one of the cones to the light — the relief is deep and irregular, molded into the glass so no two faces of it repeat, and its purpose appears at dusk: the bare bulb inside dissolves into a column of glitter without a single point of glare. All three glasses are matching and intact. The set is fully rewired through our workshop before dispatch and arrives prepared for wall installation, in working order.
The brass carries an even old-gold patina with honest traces of age, as the photographs show plainly — they are part of the description, and hide nothing. Whoever lined their hallway with these three before you kept the run complete. They are ready for a corridor, a stairwell, or three beats along one generous wall.
The set is three matching sconces in brass and textured glass, rewired before dispatch. It arrives professionally packed and fully insured — we handle the paperwork and worldwide shipping, with all import duties paid by us, so there is nothing to settle on delivery. Returns are accepted within 30 days.
