Ornate Gilt Bronze Torch-Form Wall SconcesEmpire Style, Set of Four (Mixed Arm Configuration)
Delivered free · US duties paid · Insured
The torch, or flambeau, was one of the recurring decorative motifs of French Empire design — a flame rendered in cast metal, used across sconces and candelabra to signal ceremony and light at once. This set works in that tradition, pairing gilt bronze flame and floral detailing with a matte black central column on each piece, giving the metalwork somewhere to visually rest between its more ornamented sections.

The set isn't uniform in configuration: two of the sconces carry two curved arms each, ending in a pair of candle-style fittings, while the other two extend a single arm apiece — six candle points in total across the group, rather than a rigid repeating design. Each piece follows the same visual formula of black column, gilt scrollwork, and flame-topped silhouette, so the set reads as coordinated even with the differing arm counts.
The gilt surface carries the expected patina of age across all four pieces, with no structural looseness in the arms or mounts. Grouped on a wall — the two double-arm sconces as natural centerpieces, single-arm sconces flanking them — the mixed configuration gives a larger lighting arrangement genuine visual rhythm rather than uniform repetition.
