There is something almost kinetic about a sconce shaped like a loop rather than a straight arm — the eye follows the curve up from the wall, around, and back to the bulb, the way it might trace the orbit in a diagram of the solar system. That looping silhouette, paired with dark, torpedo-shaped shades, belongs unmistakably to the vocabulary designers reached for once they began drawing inspiration from satellites and atomic models rather than acanthus leaves and scrollwork. It evokes the atmosphere of a home built for a new decade — low furniture, bold color, a wall lit by something that looked more like sculpture than lighting. Mounted as a pair either side of a doorway or above a console, they bring that same forward-looking energy into a room today.

Each sconce is formed from a looping brass stem rising from a round black dome backplate, the stem curving upward into a black conical bulb holder. The brass has a warm, aged tone, and the black elements appear to be painted or lacquered metal. Sold as a matched pair, both sconces share the same form and finish.

Both sconces present in very good vintage condition.
