Pair of Mid-Century Modern Style Metal Table LampsFluted Column, 1980s
Delivered free · US duties paid · Insured
Mid-century modern lighting built its whole visual argument around subtraction — take away carving, take away applied ornament, and let a fluted column and a smooth disc base carry the entire design. That aesthetic peaked decades before this particular pair was made, but the visual language stayed in production long after, and this lamp works squarely within it: a vertically fluted metal column rising from a flat, unadorned circular base, with a slim chrome neck marking the only real transition

Mid-century modern lighting built its whole visual argument around subtraction — take away carving, take away applied ornament, and let a fluted column and a smooth disc base carry the entire design. That aesthetic peaked decades before this particular pair was made, but the visual language stayed in production long after, and this lamp works squarely within it: a vertically fluted metal column rising from a flat, unadorned circular base, with a slim chrome neck marking the only real transition in the whole silhouette.
The fluting does specific work here — each groove catches light differently depending on where you're standing, breaking up what would otherwise be a plain cylinder into a column with real visual texture. The chrome neck above it introduces the only material contrast in the piece, a cooler, brighter accent against the warmer gold tone of the fluted body and base below it.
Both lamps show even wear consistent with genuine age, with no dents or looseness in the base plates. At 40 cm tall and 15 cm wide each, they suit a nightstand or console where a fluted silhouette can read clearly without a shade competing for attention.
It arrives professionally packed and fully insured — we handle the paperwork and worldwide shipping, with your choice of plug fitted to your country at no extra charge. This listing is for the lamp bases only; no shades or bulbs are included. Returns are accepted within 30 days.
