Set of French 1950s Brass Wall Sconces, White Opaline Tulip Shades

Watch what happens where the brass meets the glass: each arm curls up from the wall mount like a stem finding its own way toward light, then stops dead at a small black collar before the white glass takes over entirely. That black band hides the socket, but it also gives the eye a hard stop before the tulip shape opens out above it, so the glass reads as blooming rather than simply sitting there lit.

The shade itself is opaline glass, dense enough that the bulb inside never shows as a hot point — it glows evenly through the whole tapered form, the way a lit candle glows through wax rather than burning as a visible flame. Two arms per sconce, set at slightly different heights, so the pair of shades doesn't line up in a flat row but staggers, one reaching a little higher than the other.
