Single-Arm Bouillotte Desk LampSilvered Metal with Arrow Locking Mechanism, Olive Tole Shade, 1950s
Delivered free · US duties paid · Insured
The arrow was a working part before it was a decoration. On this lamp, it's the handle that grips the vertical rod and locks the shade at whatever height you set it — an Empire-era design solution given the shape of a weapon because Empire designers rarely built anything without reaching for classical or martial imagery to dress it in. Loosen the arrow, slide the shade up or down the rod, tighten it again: the mechanism is genuinely functional, not decorative dead weight pretending to move.

That single adjustable arm is what sets this apart from the more familiar multi-candle bouillotte form — one shade, one light source, mounted on a beaded octagonal tray base with the same fine silversmithing detail usually reserved for a full candelabra. The olive-green tole shade completes it, its metal surface holding a worn, uneven finish that only comes from genuine handling rather than display.
The silvered base carries natural tarnish consistent with real age, and the shade's surface wear is honest rather than distressed-to-look-old. At 28 cm tall, it's sized for actual desk use — close reading light rather than a decorative accent piece.
It arrives professionally packed and fully insured — we handle the paperwork and worldwide shipping, with your choice of plug fitted to your country at no extra charge. Returns are accepted within 30 days.
