Vintage Art Deco Spelter SculptureSeated Young Woman Embracing Two Greyhounds, Marble and Onyx Base, 1930s Mantel Statue

A young woman in a soft brimmed hat sits between her two greyhounds, her arms resting gently around their necks, as they lean in on either side to nuzzle close to her. It’s a quiet, affectionate moment instead of the usual Art Deco rush of speed, and the expression on her face, a small contented smile, makes it all the more charming. The dogs are beautifully observed: long, lean bodies, narrow heads and fine collars, finished in a warm coppery patina. The woman wears a long draped gown in a cooler silvery-bronze tone. The group sits on a long stepped base of grey marble over cream onyx, centred with a panel of black and gold Portoro marble. It’s a heartfelt mantel piece and a lovely gift for anyone who shares their home with a sighthound.

Condition: Good Vintage Condition, with natural wear to the patina and light marks to the marble and onyx base, consistent with age, as pictured.
