Vintage Brass Column Table LampCorinthian Capital — Neoclassical Empire Style, 1950s
Delivered free · US duties paid · Insured
The fluted column, borrowed from classical architecture, became a favorite lamp form for decorators working in the Empire and neoclassical taste — a way to bring the authority of a temple facade down to desk or console scale. The style stayed in continuous production well past its original nineteenth-century flowering, with mid-century workshops still turning out columns dressed in acanthus-leaf capitals for a public that wanted that same architectural gravity in a smaller room.

This lamp, in the neoclassical Empire style and dating to the 1950s, follows that form closely. A tall brass column rises from a stepped square base, capped above and below with richly detailed acanthus-leaf collars in the Corinthian manner. Note how the leaf carving on the lower collar is worked with individually defined veins and overlapping layers rather than a single flat repeat — the kind of dimensional detail that gives the capital real depth rather than reading as a flat stamped pattern. The brass carries a warm, aged tone consistent with genuine handling over the decades.
Whoever kept this lamp lit before you kept it well. The brass shows light, honest wear consistent with age, with the leaf detailing at both collars fully intact. It is ready for a console table, bedside setting, or desk.
It arrives professionally packed and fully insured, fitted with a cord and inline switch — we handle the paperwork and worldwide shipping, with the wall plug adapted to your country free of charge. Returns are accepted within 30 days.
