The style stayed in continuous production well past its original nineteenth-century flowering, with mid-century workshops still turning out columns dressed in acanthus-leaf capitals for a public that wanted that same architectural gravity in a smaller room.

This lamp, in the neoclassical Empire style and dating to the 1950s, follows that form closely. A tall brass column rises from a stepped square base, capped above and below with richly detailed acanthus-leaf collars in the Corinthian manner. Note how the leaf carving on the lower collar is worked with individually defined veins and overlapping layers rather than a single flat repeat — the kind of dimensional detail that gives the capital real depth rather than reading as a flat stamped pattern. The brass carries a warm, aged tone consistent with genuine handling over the decades.
