There's a moment just before a bundle of reeds is tied off, when the stems fan outward under their own weight, still loose, still catching light from every angle. This lamp holds that moment permanently in gilt metal — a sheaf of slender brass leaves splayed from a central urn, each one given its own gentle curve so the whole arrangement reads as something caught mid-motion rather than cast in a mould.

The base is where the piece shows its hand-finishing: a turned urn with a beaded collar, sitting on a stepped plinth of banded onyx, the stone's natural veining meaning no two lamps in a run were ever quite identical. Above the reeds, the fitting branches into three arms radiating from a central finial, each ending in a socket for a candle-style bulb — a nod to the candelabra form these lamps were built to echo, and a fuller, more theatrical spread of light than the simpler two-arm versions of the same design. The brass carries the soft, deepening warmth that only comes from decades of handling and light, rather than the flat brightness of a recent polish.
