Louis XVI design set the tone for French decorative arts in the late 18th century, trading the heavier ornament of earlier styles for fluting, symmetry, and delicate ormolu-style swags — a vocabulary that lighting makers kept returning to well into the 20th century. This tall vintage table lamp works squarely in that Louis XVI style, its brass-toned column and sculptural base built from the same architectural grammar without claiming to be a period original.
The column rises in stages — a fluted brass-toned neck, a run of dark green paint, a twisted rope band, then more brass-toned relief work — before landing on a stepped square base finished in green and brass-toned with cast ormolu-style swags across the front panel. It's a genuinely tall, statement-scaled column table lamp, topped with a crisp pleated white fabric shade included with the piece, and fitted with an inline on/off switch on the cord for everyday use.
The lamp presents in very good vintage condition, with the brass-toned metal holding its warmth and the green painted sections even and unchipped. The pleated shade is clean and holds its shape, with no tears or discoloration.
The lamp will be inspected and tested before dispatch, with rewiring where needed and an inline switch, and the plug is fitted to match your country's standard, free of charge. It's packed individually and shipped fully insured. Returns are accepted within 30 days.
