Vintage Green Leather Desk Letter Organizer with Gilt Tooled Scrolls, Three Tiered Compartments
Dark green leather with gold scrollwork at the corners gives this letter organizer the look of a well-bound library book. Three stepped compartments keep letters, envelopes and papers in order on a desk.
The organizer is covered in dark green leather and tooled in gilt with double borders and leafy scrolls at each front corner. Inside are three tiered compartments, rising from front to back, lined with green moiré fabric. The gold decoration is made by gilt tooling. Gold leaf is laid on the leather, and heated brass tools press it into the surface, the same technique used to decorate fine book bindings.
The organizer is in good vintage condition, with some stains to the fabric lining. It has sorted letters on other desks for years, and it's ready for yours. It suits a home office, a writing desk or a hall table for incoming mail.
Desk summary: a green leather letter organizer with gilt tooled scrolls and three tiered, fabric-lined compartments.
