Vintage Large Table Lamp, Attributed 1960s–70s, Tapered Stained Beech Column with Chrome Details, Cream Drum Shade, 68 cm
In the 1930s, the great ocean liners were famous for their interiors of polished wood and bright chrome. The look was so admired that the French gave it a name: style paquebot, the ocean-liner style. Designers kept using it for many years afterward.
This large table lamp is attributed to the 1960s–70s and follows that style. A tall column of stained beech narrows gently as it rises from a round wooden base. Chrome-finish collars sit at the top and bottom. The wood has a deep, glossy finish that shows its grain. A cream drum shade with gold-tone trim sits on top, and the lamp switches on and off with a pull-cord.
The lamp is in good overall condition, as pictured. Like every lamp we sell, it is checked in our workshop before it is sent, so it arrives ready to use. Its size suits a long sideboard or a large desk.
In short, this is a vintage table lamp with a stained beech column, chrome-finish details, a pull-cord switch and a cream drum shade. It is attributed to the 1960s–70s, stands 68 cm tall and is exactly as pictured.
