A lady in a flowing scarlet gown sits beneath an orange tree, playing a lute while her flock grazes around her. Sheep wander down to drink from a stream, a small dog noses through the flowers at her feet, and beyond the meadow a half-timbered farmhouse and wattle fence lead the eye across rolling hills to a distant walled town. The ground is scattered with red and white blossoms in the millefleur manner of late medieval French tapestry. This “Concert Champêtre” (Pastoral Concert) reproduces a 15th-century design. It was made by the Manufacture Robert Four of Paris and Aubusson, silkscreen-printed right through the wool on a fabric woven in the traditional way, so the colours stay rich and deep. At almost six feet wide, it brings warmth and storybook charm to a large wall.
Condition: Very Good Vintage Condition. The colours are clear and bright, and the original Robert Four label is on the back.
