Antique Gilded Bronze Curtain HoldbacksFrench 19th Century Foliate Scroll Design (Set of 3)
Delivered free · US duties paid · Insured
In the nineteenth-century French interior, even the hardware holding back a curtain was an occasion for ornament — a small bronze fitting cast with the same foliate scrollwork found on furniture mounts and door hardware throughout the house, gilded to match the room's other fittings rather than left as plain, purely functional metal.

DETAILS:
Materials: gilded bronze
Set of 3 holdbacks
Condition: good antique condition; honest wear consistent with age; foliate detailing intact
This set of three holdbacks, French, nineteenth century, is cast in a matching foliate and fan-shaped scroll design, each hook curving out from a decorated backplate worked in acanthus leaf and shell motifs. Note how the leaf edges are individually defined with fine, slightly raised veining rather than a flat stamped outline — the kind of crisp relief that separates a genuine period casting from a later, simplified reproduction. The gilding catches light differently across the raised and recessed areas of the pattern, giving each piece real depth even at a glance.
Whoever hung drapery from these holdbacks before you kept them well. The gilt bronze shows honest wear consistent with age, with the foliate detailing fully intact across all three pieces. They are ready to be reinstalled and put back to work, or displayed as a decorative set.
They arrive professionally packed and fully insured — we handle the paperwork and worldwide shipping. Returns are accepted within 30 days.
