Art Deco Candelabra LampChrome Two Arm Table Lamp with Glass Ball, Adnet Style — French, 1930s Style
Delivered free · US duties paid · Insured
In the Paris of the 1930s, the modernists took the candelabra — the most traditional object on a French mantel — and stripped it to its essentials: two clean sweeps of arm, a polished ball of glass at the heart, and chrome where silver had been. Designers in the circle of Jacques Adnet made this vocabulary famous, pairing mirror-bright metal with solid glass so that a small lamp did with reflections what a chandelier did with crystal.

This lamp is French, in the 1930s Art Deco taste associated with Adnet's circle, its two arms curving symmetrically from a stepped circular foot, a solid glass sphere mounted at the centre beneath a faceted spear finial, the candle sleeves ringed in bright metal and dressed with a pair of pleated black shades. Watch what the glass ball does when the lamp is lit — it gathers the light from both bulbs and the room around it into itself, a small trick of optics the modernists used to give hard geometry a warm centre. The lamp is in working order with its cable already changed, is supplied without bulbs; both shades are available only on request, and is fitted with the appropriate plug or adapter for your country, ready to use.
The chromed surfaces show wear from use and time, honestly carried and visible in the photographs. Whoever lit their evenings with this lamp before you kept it in service. It suits a console, a mantel end, or a bedside table.
The lamp is metal and solid glass, rewired and in working order, with its pair of shades supplied only on request. It arrives professionally packed and fully insured — worldwide shipping and US import duties are included. For other destinations, local import taxes and duties may apply and are payable by the recipient. Returns are accepted within 30 days.
