It carries the character of a mantelpiece from the period, the sort of clock built to be looked at from across the room as much as consulted for the time.
The clock has a round clock face set in a brass-toned bezel, mounted upright on a rectangular black and cream marble block. Beside it, on a separate marble pedestal, stands a régule greyhound figure with a bright gilt-toned finish. Both elements sit on a long rectangular base combining pale onyx-veined marble with black marble banding. The clock face has a cream dial with Art Deco-style numerals and blued hands.
