Art Deco Style Desk Lamp, Heavy Brass Bankers Lamp with U Form Arm, Adjustable Shade — 1930s Attribution

The desk lamps of the 1930s turned function into geometry. This design bends a single flat band of brass into a U — from the stepped base up and over to carry the shade — so the lamp's entire structure is one continuous gesture, with the switch set into a cube at the heart of it. The half-cylinder shade pivots on its mount, tilting the light onto the page and nowhere else: the bankers lamp rethought by the machine age.

This lamp is attributed to the 1930s, in brass throughout and notably heavy for its size: a stepped rectangular base carrying a cube housing the push-button switch, from which the broad U-form arm sweeps up to the pivoting half-cylinder shade. Pick it up before you place it — the weight is the period speaking, solid brass where later decades would substitute folded sheet over filler, and it is what lets a small lamp with a cantilevered shade sit rock-steady under daily handling. The shade carries one small dent, shown plainly in the photographs. The lamp is checked through our workshop before dispatch, fitted with the appropriate plug or adapter for your country, and delivered working and ready to use.

The brass has mellowed evenly to an old-gold tone, the dent to the shade stated and photographed, the whole honest and unpolished. Whoever angled this shade over their paperwork before you kept the lamp in service. It belongs on a desk, a writing table, or a home-office shelf.
